The Palestinian state expressed its "categorical rejection" of any "erroneous" and "misleading" comparison between the Palestinian issue and the Moroccan Sahara.

A joint communiqué following talks on Monday in Rabat, between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Salaheddine Mezouar and Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki stressed that "concerning the Sahara issue, and starting from the position of the State of Palestine which believes in the principle and need to preserve the unity and security of the Arab countries, the Palestinian side reaffirms its support for the territorial unity of Morocco and settlement proposals to this conflict, expressing categorical rejection to any erroneous and misleading comparison with the Palestinian issue is not only the leading cause of Arabs and Muslims, but a matter of foreign colonial occupation of the land of the State of Palestine. "

Riyad Al-Maliki, during a press conference held after the talks, said that "we support the territriale integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco as well as proposals aimed at resolving the conflict over the Sahara issue and express our categorical reject of all false and misleading comparisons with the Palestinian cause. "

"We do not accept such comparisons. There is no similarity between the two issues," he stressed.

"we are talking about the occupation of the Palestinian land by Israel. It's very clear. And this did not start yesterday, but since 1948 ".

Following these discussions, which focused on the different forms of bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen and revitalize partnership at the service of the two brotherly countries, the two ministers signed an agreement on the establishment of a Joint Cooperation Committee between the Palestinian and Moroccan governments which assigns objectives to strengthen consultation and coordination on issues of common interest and develop cooperation in economic, commercial, financial, cultural and health fields as well as scientific research and social services.
