On the Sahara issue,  top priority of Moroccan diplomacy, the Kingdom of Morocco has made significant progress over the past year, thanks to the far-sighted policy of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, writes the Daily of the ruling party in Tanzania.

In an editorial dedicated to Morocco's celebration of the 21st anniversary of the Sovereign's accession to the throne of His glorious ancestors, Daily News points out that United Nations Security Council Resolutions 2468 and 2494, which called for compromise and pragmatism during the political process and which maintained the exclusivity of the United Nations political process at different levels of negotiations, are particularly evident.

One of the important aspects of these resolutions is the emphasis on the importance for all parties to engage in good faith and contribute to the success of the ongoing political process, newspaper said, adding that the other important aspect is the one-year extension of MINURSO's mandate that should inject new impetus into the political process to reach a settlement accepted by all parties.

“These developments have not only preserved the achievements of Morocco, by reiterating once again the preeminence of the Moroccan autonomy initiative and by welcoming the serious and credible efforts of Morocco to advance the political process, but also recalled the violations of Polisario in the buffer zone, calling on it to refrain from any provocation ”, writes the columnist.

The newspaper also shone its spotlight on the promotion of the new development model of the provinces of southern Morocco, an ambitious project which is likely to promote the success of the Autonomy plan of the Provinces concerned by the UN process proposed by Morocco in 2007.

The publication underlines that the opening of consulates of several countries in the southern provinces of Morocco constitutes a success of a visionary and effective Moroccan diplomacy, which has succeeded in moving from fortification of the gains achieved in terms of the defense of the national cause to that of imposing a new reality based on growing international recognition of the legitimacy of the Moroccan autonomy initiative as a “realistic” and “lasting” solution.

Daily News said, moreover, that the Kingdom of Morocco benefits from political stability, robust infrastructure and strategic location, “so many assets which all contribute to its emergence as a regional economic power and production and export market for international companies ”.

The New Development Model has made Morocco a regional trade hub at the crossroads of sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, said the newspaper, adding that this strategy has further influenced Morocco's relations and role in recent years on the African continent.

Addressing Covid-19 pandemic that has affected the whole world, the newspaper highlighted the proactive measures taken by Morocco to stem the spread of the virus.

“From the early stages of the pandemic, His Majesty the King called for the creation of the Special Fund for the management of the coronavirus pandemic and urged the government and local authorities to adopt drastic measures to contain the virus”, said the reporter, adding that the Ministry of Health had to manage an unprecedented health crisis and show agility and proactivity in the management of the different facets of the pandemic, from the treatment of COVID-19 patients to increased epidemiological surveillance .“

However, in the face of these challenges, the Ministry of Health has shown resilience by deploying an emergency response, developing a set of medical protocols for COVID-19 patients, and equipping hospitals across the country with medical supplies and personal protective equipment, while rapidly developing the capacity of hospitals in beds and intensive care units ”,

The newspaper also highlighted Morocco medical aid to several African countries as an aid in the fight against COVID-19, an outpouring of solidarity launched on the initiative of HM King Mohammed VI.

Bilaterally, the Daily News newspaper underlines that the historic visit of HM King Mohammed VI to Tanzania opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, through the signing of several agreements which laid the foundations for win-win partnerships in the fields of economy, finance, renewable energies, agriculture, fishing, air transport, hydrocarbons and mining.

“During this royal visit, Morocco also showed willingness to share its expertise with Tanzania in particular in the fields of agriculture, tourism and renewable energies with particular emphasis on the creation of industrial poles and development of logistics and ports ”, said the paper.
