The signing ceremony, held in the presence of the Consul General of Morocco in Marseille, Mr. Mohamed Hamouli, opens new prospects for strengthening cooperation in priority areas such as tourism, green energy, and the exchange of expertise.
On this occasion, Mr. Estrosi expressed his “great pleasure” in working to further strengthen the partnership between Nice and Dakhla, in line with the positive bilateral momentum that, in his view, “now needs to be revitalized and consolidated.”
The Mayor of Nice also stressed that it is “essential today for our two cities to work together to address shared challenges, particularly those related to development and climate change.”
For his part, Mr. Hormatallah underlined that the twinning initiative between Dakhla and Nice forms part of the renewed dynamism of Moroccan–French cooperation, especially following the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Morocco in October 2014.
This partnership will enable the expansion of cooperation between the two cities in promising sectors, including energy transition, investment promotion, and port development, in line with the objectives of the new development model for the southern provinces of the Kingdom.
The twinning project will also emphasize the exchange of expertise and best practices between two attractive tourist destinations, at a time when Dakhla is actively working to strengthen its position as a fully integrated and self-sufficient tourism destination.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Olivier Poivre d’Arvor, French Ambassador for the Arctic and Pacific Islands, as well as elected officials from the city of Nice and members of the Moroccan community residing in France.
