 Resistance

After the achievement of independence in 1956, the Sahara Liberation Army was formed in order to liberate the territory by force. All the Saharan tribes, men and women, alike, actually enlisted in the army of liberation. There is not a single family in the Sahara that has not paid a heavy tribute for the sake of liberation during this era.

The liberation army launched glorious battles, which displayed the courage and bravery of the Sahraouis, as well as the indefatigable attachment of all Sahraoui people to their country, Morocco, to the Alawite Throne, and to the King of Morocco.

Unfortunately, the recuperation of the Sahara could not be achieved during this period because France and Spain formed a coalition, for other reasons, in order to thwart the Sahara Liberation Army, during the ECOUVILLON operation.
