Prime Minister Abbas El Fassi said that the Moroccan proposal to grant broad autonomy to the southern provinces was "a consensual solution in conformity with Security Council resolutions" for the settlement of the Sahara issue.

In an interview to the Tunisian daily "Achourouk”, published Sunday, the Prime Minister, who led the delegation to the works of the 14th session of the Joint Moroccan-Tunisian committee, said that several states including the United States, France , Spain, Italy and the European Union, as well as Maghreb political parties believed that the Moroccan project "is a  consensual solution" to the Sahara issue, and it complies with Security Council resolutions calling parties to reach a political solution to this issue.

Morocco has undertaken great efforts to promote the settlement of this artificial dispute" said El Fassi, stating that everyone knows that Polisario "is an illusion" and "that is why we have proposed a consensual solution without winner or loser," said the Prime Minister.

While answering a question about the current paralysis of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), he stressed that the treaty establishing the union calls on the parties to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all its members.
