 ECOWAS Chairman Leaves 8th TICAD in Protest against Polisario Participation  8/29/2022
The President of Guinea Bissau and current chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Umaro Sissoco Embalo, left the 8th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), opened Saturday in Tunis, to protest against the Tunisia-imposed participation of the "polisario", diplomatic sources say.

The European Union (EU) remains committed to its position on the Moroccan Sahara dispute, recalling loud and clear that it takes "positive note of the serious and credible efforts led by Morocco" and "strongly supports the efforts of the UN Secretary-General to achieve a just, realistic and lasting mutually acceptable political solution to the Sahara issue", based on "compromise and in line with the resolutions of the UN Security Council, in particular resolution 2602, of October 29, 2021."
