Legitimacy of Local Elected Representatives in Sahara Consolidated in UN Secretary-General Report 10/8/2018
In his report to the Security Council on the Moroccan Sahara, the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres noted that his Personal Envoy for the Sahara, Mr. Horst Köhler, "met with local elected representatives" of southern provinces in Morocco during his tour in June 2018, thus recognizing the legitimacy of these elected and local officials as the only democratically elected representatives of the region.
