 UN 4th Committee reiterates support for negotiations process over the Sahara   10/11/2011

The Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted on Monday without a vote, a draft resolution that reiterates the United Nations' support for the process of negotiations on the Sahara, calling upon "all the parties and the States of the region to cooperate fully with the UN Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy and with each other."

  


 Kenya supports "good faith" negotiations for a solution to the Sahara   10/10/2011

withdrawing its recognition of the so-called SADR, Kenya called on Thursday in New York for negotiations "without preconditions and in good faith," the only way "to achieve a just, lasting and mutually acceptable solution."

  


 Morocco calls for implementing UNSC resolution on registration of Tindouf camps’ population  10/10/2011

Morocco’s Ambassador to Geneva, Omar Hilale, called on the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, to implement UN Security Council resolution 1979 concerning the registration of the population in Tindouf camps (south-western Algeria).

The delegation of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs represented by Mrs Zahra Al Shakaf and Mrs Maskoula Baamar before the Fourth Committee of the United Nations in New York made two speeches on the status of Sahrawi women in the Kingdom of Morocco, where they have rights and benefits, the issue of humanitarian aid embezzlement in the Tindouf camps as well as the kingdom's efforts to settle the artificial dispute over the Sahara.
