Morocco's autonomy proposal 'deserves to be discussed seriously', French FM 3/23/2009
French Foreign Minister, Bernard Kouchner, said Morocco's proposal to grant autonomy to its southern provinces, the Sahara, "deserves to be discussed seriously," adding that the option of a referendum "has not worked so far."Kouchner said, in an interview published in the latest issue of the international weekly "Jeune Afrique," that France, like the Security Council deems "interesting" the Moroccan proposal.
