Several African countries defend Sahara autonomy before the UN 4th Commission 10/13/2008
The interventions of delegations during the works of the UN 4th Commission, continued last Friday in New York, focused on the Sahara issue. Several African countries have strongly encouraged the Moroccan autonomy initiative in the region as an essential basis for negotiations to end the conflict that has lasted too long. The debates were an opportunity for the Moroccan representative and African countries to counter misleading declarations by Polisario supporters within the 4th Commission on behalf of the African Group.

Spain confident over success of Sahara talks process, Spanish Deputy PM 10/10/2008
Spain voiced, here Thursday, its confidence over the success of the UN-led Sahara talks in Manhasset and its efforts to find a lasting solution that is acceptable to both parties. "We are actively working to find a lasting solution that is acceptable to all parties and which will put an end to this conflict," declared Spanish Deputy Prime Minister, Maria Teresa De La Vega, following a meeting with the Prime minister, Abbas El Fassi.
