 Senegal backs 'without reserve' Morocco's autonomy initiative, ambassador   6/27/2008

Senegalese ambassador in Rabat, Ibou Ndiaye, reiterated, here Thursday, that his country backs "without reserve" Morocco's initiative to grant substantial autonomy to the kingdom's Southern Provinces. "Senegal, we will never repeat it enough, backs without reserve the Moroccan initiative for a substantial autonomy in the kingdom's Southern Provinces," Ndiaye affirmed at the opening of the 2nd Senegalese cultural week in Morocco, held on June 26-28.    "This was our stand before the Manhasset talks, and it remained so during and after the talks," he underlined.

  


 CEMAC heads of State and government welcome Morocco's autonomy initiative   6/27/2008

A delegation of the emissaries of king Mohammed VI , composed of Foreign minister, Taïb Fassi Fihri, and head of the Moroccan intelligence (DGED), Mohamed Yassine Mansouri, paid visit to Yaounde on the fringes of the summit of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), held on June 23-25.

  


 Autonomy initiative, a democratic option to a final settlement   6/26/2008

The Moroccan initiative autonomy for the Sahara is a democratic option for progress towards a final  settlement of the artificial conflict created around the territorial integrity of Morocco, said Tuesday Pr Abdelhamid El Ouali. In a statement to the MAP on the sidelines of a reception held at the headquarters of the British Parliament in London in the United Kingdom on the occasion of the publication of his book "Autonomy in the Sahara, a prelude of Maghreb regions," Prof. El Ouali stressed that the draft submitted by Morocco has the merit of taking the best in the different experiences that have been successful in the world, including Finland and Spain.

  


 Brazil: Sahara issue requires parties to show "political will and realism"   6/26/2008

Morocco and Brazil have stressed Wednesday that the Sahara issue requires parties to "continue to exercise political will, realism and a spirit of compromise" and carry out "resolutely more substantive negotiations" for the settlement of this issue.

  


 Mauritanians tortured in Polisario jails claim justice   6/25/2008

A large number of Mauritanians victims of arbitrary detention and torture in Polisario jails announced Monday their intention to bring their case before public opinion and international organizations, including the United Nations, to claim justice and rehabilitation. In a press conference in Nouakchott, victims and relatives have reported the disappearance of hundreds of Mauritanians detained in the Tindouf camps. It is time to shed light and break the silence on crimes, torture, kidnapping and arbitrary detention suffered by Mauritanian citizens in the prisons of the Polisario, underline the survivors of these jails and relatives of missing persons.
