 Negotiations in Manhasset resume on Sunday   3/14/2008
4th round Negotiations over the Sahara to resume Sunday, in Manhasset, near New York, as agreed at the end of the last meeting held from January 7-9.    


 Mr. Harzenni: Algeria is "responsible for" the suffering of the Moroccans detained Tindouf   3/12/2008

The chairman of the Advisory Council for Human Rights, Mr. Ahmed Harzanni said that Algeria is "responsible for" the suffering of the Moroccans detained in the Tindouf camps . Speaking at the Hiwar programme aired by the first television channel Tuesday evening, in response to a question about the possibility to the use international law by Morocco regarding "Tindouf detention center" like Guantanamo, he said " we have as Moroccans to focus on this issue" stressing that "the brotherly Algerian state bear responsibility for "the suffering of the Moroccans detained in Tindouf camps."

  


 CSDDH calls for putting an end to human rights abuses in Tindouf camps  3/11/2008

The Sahrawi Group for Human Rights Defence (CSDDH) launched on Monday from Geneva, which was holding the 7th session of the Human Rights Council, an urgent appeal to the UN Secretary General and the international community to intervene in order to put an end to human rights violations by "Polisario", whose victims are sequestered in the Tindouf camps (southwestern Algeria). The Group also calls upon the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and human rights NGOs to "initiate an emergency surveys to discover the serious abuses that continue to be committed in the camps".

  


 National security chief receives representatives from Tan Tan   3/7/2008

The National Security chief, Mr. Charki Draiss, received Thursday in Rabat, a delegation composed of nine representatives of the inhabitants of the province of Tan Tan, including members of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), parliamentarians and local officials, who presented their heartfelt condolences following the assassination of policeman Abdelaziz Meski "Polisario" separatists in Tan Tan.  During the meeting, requested by the representatives of the inhabitants of the province, members of the delegation have requested Mr. Draiss to convey their deep condolences and sincere sympathy to the entire family of national security and the deceased family,

  


 People in Tindouf camps 'are indeed held' by Polisario, diplomat   3/6/2008

Morocco's ambassador to the UN Geneva office, Mohammed Loulichki, insisted that the population in the Tindouf camps (southwestern Algeria) is indeed held, by Polisario, against its will. "I say it and I insist," stressed the Moroccan diplomat, before the Human Rights Council (HRC), in response to a statement made by the Algerian ambassador who spoke earlier. "They are held, because they cannot move, because there is a double military belt, that of the Polisario and that of the Algerian army around the camps," he said.
