 The Sahara issue witnesses a historic turning point thanks to autonomy initiative  1/2/2008

the year 2007 was undoubtedly, a historical turning point for the Sahara issue, thanks to the Moroccan initiative for negotiating an autonomy statute for the Sahara region, following extensive consultations both at national and international levels.

  


 Algerian State is responsible for human rights violations in Tindouf camps   12/28/2007

Algeria should be held responsible for human rights violations committed in the Tindouf camps by "Polisario" ", since these violations are committed on its soil, with the blessing and under the control of Algerian military and civilian officials, said the Saharawi Association of Human Rights.

The Polisario is leading a wide repression campaign under the supervision of the Algerian police, against Sahrawi tribes, some members of which have broken off with the Polisario separatists, and held in Gjijimat, in the Tifariti buffer zone, a meeting to protest the so-called Congress of the separatists, French-speaking daily, "Aujourd'hui le Maroc" reported on Wednesday.  "A terrible revenge is awaiting the families of the Polisario dissidents,"

  


 Open letter by the Special Council Charged with the Moroccan Sahara to Mrs. Condoleeza Rice   12/27/2007

The Special Committee in charge of the Moroccan Sahara "(CSCSM) strongly denounced, in an open letter to the American Secretary of State Mrs. Condoleeza Rice, the holding in Tifariti of separatists congress which " defies the Security Council, which called on the parties to create an atmosphere conducive to dialogue and success of the ongoing negotiations in paragraph 2 of its resolution 1783 in October 2007". 

  


 Two Moroccan Sahrawis flee Tindouf Camps to join Morocco  12/26/2007

Two Moroccan Sahrawis have recently managed to flee the Polisario-run Tindouf camps, southwestern Algeria, and join motherland Morocco.Said Hammou Ould Alioua and Mohamed M'barek Ould El-Kouri told MAP that "the gang, holding grips on leadership," seeks to "maintain the status quo situation to continue profiting from the donations of the international humanitarian organizations", particularly "since the adherence of most Sahrawis into the Moroccan proposal to grant substantial autonomy to its southern provinces."
