The Newspaper “l’avenir” produced in the Democratic republic of Congo questioned about the role of the mission granted to Mr Joachin Chissano , The new special envoy of the African Union for the Moroccan Sahara , and explained : “ in fact , he was nominated in order to organize a referendum based on the identification , he should have known that this attempt would fail”. The Newspaper underlined that Joachin Chissano “cannot do any miracle” and added “a number of experts , led by Peter Van Walsum ; the personal envoy of the UN General Secretary reached a courageous and indisputable conclusion that independence of the Sahara is not realistic”
According to the Newspaper, Joachin Chissano will realize that the final settlement lies on the Autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco for the Sahara, underlying that this initiative is the only possible framework for negotiations aiming at a realistic solution.
The newspaper added that the nomination of the special envoy of the African Unity for the Moroccan Sahara at the beginning of July 2014 has raised firm reactions by the Moroccan authorities. The newspaper equally raised words of the director of the observatory of the strategic studies in Paris , Charles Saint-Prot who says :” we perfectly know that this crisis is between Morocco and Algeria the Polisario in this conflict is nothing but a marionette in the hands of Algeria . It is time for the international community to show its courage and say ENOUGH to Algeria, even if this could irritate it. Because its position in this conflict is inappropriate “
After his visit to Morocco, the « l’avenir » journalist highlighted that the Polisario has failed after the failure of the referendum, which has proved to be unrealistic, from both technical and political levels , because such referendum requires a change in the frontiers of the countries of the region . He also recalled that frontiers of the region of north –west of the African continent and particularly frontiers between Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania and Mali have been drawn during the era of distribution of land between France and Spain.
The newspaper recalled that Morocco left the African Unity Organization in 1984 to protest against the recognition of the ghostly republic in the Sahara, as a result of Algeria, supported by the enemies of the Moroccan territorial integrity of the kingdom, exploitation of the crisis of the African organization then, in order to adopt a resolution recognizing this mythical entity in violation of the international law and the charter of the AOU itself.
