These two books that are signed by the former Special Envoy of the United Nations for the Sahara Erik Jensen and Nancy Huff, President of the American NGO "Teach the Children International", are living testimony to allow the international public opinion to better understand the Moroccan Sahara issue and explain this artificial conflict, from two perspectives: human rights and political reading.
In his book "Danger in the Sahara", Nancy Huff presents her own experience during her visit in the Tindouf camps, where sequestered inhabitants lack even the minimum necessary for a decent life.
The author also mentions the fact that she witnessed the aid of her own association intended to camp residents, embezzled in the local black market.
Meanwhile, the author refers to successful development projects that Morocco has opened in the Sahara region.
In the second book "Western Sahara: Autopsy of a Stalemate," Erik Jensen offers a political reading of the conflict, summarizing the experience of long years he spent as UN official in the region.
Jensen offers basic conclusions including mainly the impossibility of organizing a referendum to set up an independent state in the Sahara region, while highlighting the efforts made by Morocco to find a final solution to this artificial conflict .
