The results in the southern provinces after the parliamentary elections of October 7  2016 show, as in previous national elections, particularly high participation rates in this part of the Kingdom.

In certain districts within the southern provinces, where the competition was tough and strong between the different candidates, the local participation in the elections exceeded 76%, a rate that shows all the interest of the inhabitants of these regions to the electoral process and their constant determination to contribute to the democratic construction of the Kingdom.

The turnout stood at 76.71% in Aousserd, 75.94% in the province of Tarfaya 64.30% in Boujdour, 62% in Smara, 57.21% in Laayoune, 49% in Tan Tan and 43.57 in %Guelmim.

For many local observers, these rates were not surprising and confirm all the committement  showed the by the population of the southern provinces since the beginning of the election campaign. In Laayoune, the massive influx of voters to polling stations was stressed by all national and international observers.

In a statement to MAP, the former chairman of Brussels bar, Karongozi André Martin, who was present at Laayoune for an election observation mission, welcomed "the  very good atmosphere in the polls" stressing that "the voting process took place in good conditions, without incident."
