The international community has strongly welcomed, before the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly the relevance, virtues and promises of the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco for the final settlement of the artificial conflict over the Sahara, in terms of regional cooperation and security in a vast region ambushed by multiple threats.

Interveners before the UN Committe, states and petitioners stressed that the  Moroccan sovereignty autonomy plan is the necessary elements to achieve stability in the Sahel-Saharan region and contribute to the fight against terrorism and trafficking of all kinds, organized crime, illegal immigration, human trafficking and the risk of instability in the Sahel-Saharan region and the Mediterranean.

The plan, they said, also guarantees the strengthening of the unity of the Maghreb countries, so as to promote the creation of conditions for a better coordination of policies and initiatives, allowing optimal use of these important opportunities for the benefit of all their peoples.

They argued that this "credible and insightful" initiative, which attests to the "magnanimity and vision" of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is able to offer a solution to the conflict around of the Moroccan Sahara.

The international community, as widely appreciated the progress and significant achievements earned by Morocco on the human rights and socio-economic development in the Sahara and across the entire territory of the Kingdom, as part of sustainable democratic and economic model and economic growth involving massive investments that benefit all Moroccans.

It is in this regard, it echoed the launch by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on November 7, 2015, of the new development model of the southern provinces, with a budget of nearly $ 8 billion which is expected to create 120,000 new jobs.

Stakeholders before the 4th Committe have, moreover, welcomed the decision of the Kingdom to regain "its African family to which it has never ceased to belong" by formally submitting application to return to the African Union.

They, in this context, emphasized the deep anchoring of Morocco in the African continent. This anchoring is "decisive for many Africans," they noted, and continues to affirm the constant contribution of the Kingdom to the development of the continent through  increasingly noticed economic presence.
