On the agenda of the visit of His Majesty the King, there is in particular, participation in the 5th African Union-European Union summit, to be held in Abidjan November 29-30, 2017.
This 5th Summit is the third of its kind to be held on the African continent and first in Sub-Saharan Africa.
According to the presentation note which is published in the site dedicated to the Summit, it is stated that the stakes of this Summit are important for both continents, since it will be articulated around common challenges facing both countries. continents, such as peace and security, and around common interests, including search for sustainable, inclusive and job-creating growth for young people.
The agenda also discusses progress made in the implementation of the 2014-2017 action plan adopted at the previous Brussels Summit and the way forward to define the joint Africa-EU strategy.
The EU remains the largest trading partner on the African continent and also the world's largest contributor to official development assistance to Africa, although Africa is expanding its economic ties with other continents.
At this important meeting are expected about 5300 participants including 82 Heads of State and Government representing 54 African countries and 28 European countries, as well as delegations from friendly countries, AU Commission, EU Commission, International, Regional and Sub-Regional Organizations.
