Algeria should assume its role in resolving the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara, said participants in the webinar "Sahara and Human Rights", organized by the associative Collective Human Rights Without Borders.

The participants in this webinar, organized Wednesday by this Latin American associative Collective, noted that "Algeria is not only a stakeholder in the Sahara conflict, it is even the problem in this artificial dispute".

Moderated by journalist Carolina Martinez, this webinar brought together various participants including Juan Carlos Moraga, Executive Under-Secretary of the associative Collective Human Rights Without Borders, Andre Grimblatt, expert in communication sciences, Messaoud Ramadan, activist and member of the Sahrawi Movement for Peace, Shaibata Mrabih Rabou, community activist, Ricardo Sanchez Serra, Peruvian expert in international relations, Cristian Sanchez of the Chile-Morocco Foundation and Chilean trade unionist Ricardo Maldonado.

The participants notably denounced the misappropriation of humanitarian aid intended for the populations held against their will in Tindouf.

They also noted that Algeria's rejection of a census of the populations held against their will in the Tindouf camps, in violation of its international obligations, favors, inter alia, the diversion for personal enrichment of humanitarian aid destined for the Tindouf camps by "polisario" leaders and local officials, as confirmed in the inspection reports of the UNHCR, the WFP and the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) as well as by the European Parliament.

Also, the total absence of democracy in the Tindouf camps in southern Algeria, the total blackout on the situation in the camps and the suffering of the detained populations who seek by all means to join Morocco, their motherland, in search of a dignified life, figured prominently in the debates of this webinar.
