 Disclaimer: The alleged abduction of a minor by police in Smara, fabricated   12/25/2008

The investigation conducted under the supervision of prosecutors about an alleged abduction of a minor by police in Smara revealed that the story is fabricated and is the result of hidden parties working for separatists, according to an authorized source. The minor in question claimed at first, in his deposition in the presence of his father that he had been kidnapped by a police car, December 18, before retracting and citing unknown people, adds the same source.

  


 Sahrawi association calls for opening Tindouf camps to NGOs, UN bodies  12/23/2008

A Sahrawi association, on Monday, called for opening the Tindouf camps, southwestern Algeria, to NGOs and to all UN bodies, noting that it is "high time that Algeria took its responsibilities as a host country" of these camps. "It is high time to unveil the truth,” the Association of Moroccan Sahrawi tribes in Europe (ATSME) said in a communiqué, calling for “freeing the Moroccans sequestrated in the Lahmada camps by the polisario junta and its Algerian backers."

  


 David Welch reiterates that autonomy remains the "most probable" solution to Sahara   12/22/2008

The former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East, David Welch, reiterated that the initiative of autonomy in the southern provinces is the "most probable" solution for the settlement of the Sahara issue.

  


 Mr. Khalihenna: the next round of negotiations on the Sahara should bring about serious stage   12/19/2008

President of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Mr. M. Khalihenna Ould Errachid said that Morocco, like the international community insists on the need for the next round of negotiations on the Sahara, to be a “serious and deep” step in order to reach final settlement of this issue, which can only be autonomy, as unique option." 

  


 Corcas holds its 2008 2nd regular session in Rabat   12/19/2008

The Chairman of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, in accordance with Articles 7 and 8 of Dahir number 1.06.81, issued on 24 Safar 1427, corresponding to 25 March 2006 on the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs, announced that the second regular session of the Council for 2008 will be held on 26 and 27 Dou Lhija 1429, corresponding to 25 and 26 December 2008 in Rabat.
