Vanuatu called on Tuesday neighboring countries to contribute significantly to resolving the dispute over the issue of the Moroccan Sahara before the 4th Committee of the UN General Assembly.

"We encourage neighboring countries to make meaningful contributions" to the UN-led conflict resolution process, Mr. Odo Tevi, Permanent Representative of Vanuatu to the United Nations, underlined in a statement.

He also urged parties to "demonstrate political will" with a view to reaching a final solution, calling on all parties and countries in the region "to cooperate fully with the Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy, in order to put an end to the current impasse "of the negotiating process.
