On the night of November 7-8 , the European light launcher Vega placed in orbit the first Moroccan satellite, recently baptized Mohammed 6-A. The takeoff took place from the Guiana Space Center on November 8 at 1:42 UTC (22:42 local time) and positioning took place 55 minutes and 33 seconds later.

With a resolution of 70 cm, capable of providing three-dimensional images, the satellite will be dedicated to the observation of the Earth including cartographic and cadastral activities, territory development, monitoring agricultural activities, preventing  and managing natural disasters, monitoring environmental developments in particular desertification.


It should also conduct intelligence missions, such as military and security observation at borders, including the Moroccan Sahara region.
