For his part, head of the Moroccan-French Parliamentary group, Abdellah El Bourkadi hailed the French support for Morocco's request for an Advanced Status within the European Union, adding that MPs from both sides will work on updating the current legislations to accompany the new status.
In a statement to the media following the meeting, Chairman of the French-Moroccan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Jean Roatta, said granting the kingdom an advanced status gave an impetus to Moroccan-UE relations, underlining that the status is the result of major reforms undertaken by Morocco in the political, economic, social and human rights fields.
For her part, Najima Tai Tai called for exerting pressure on Algeria to open its border with Morocco and join the efforts made to find a political solution to the Sahara issue, highlighting the need to create a French-Moroccan-Algerian parliamentary group to settle the dispute.
