President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, said, here Thursday, that Morocco's proposal to grant autonomy to its southern provinces (The Sahara), is the "best solution" to settle the Sahara issue.

"This initiative is the best solution to this longstanding dispute," Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo told the Moroccan press on the occasion of the monarch's visit to Equatorial Guinea.

He added that "the Sahara is an integral part of Morocco" and the autonomy plan will enable the Sahrawi population to run their affairs under Moroccan sovereignty.

The President of Equatorial Guinea had repeatedly reaffirmed the constant and unconditional support of his country to the Moroccan cause.
