The operation of family visit exchange, conducted by the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), between the camps in Tindouf in southern Algeria and southern provinces of the kingdom, continued Friday through the organization of the 18th trip for the year 2009, to and from the province of Smara.


This exchange concerned 62 beneficiaries belonging to 15 families, said a press release by the Office for the Moroccan Coordination with MINURSO.

Thus, nine families totaling 37 people from the province of Smara, boarded at 08:05 a UN aircraft at the airport to the city of Tindouf (Samara camp) and six families totaling 25 people from the camps of Tindouf, took the same plane at 11:50 am, said the same source.

This exchange took place for the Moroccan side, in good conditions and all measures have been taken to ensure a warm welcome to participants and facilitate the use of formalities at the airport of embarkation and disembarkation, underlines the release.

While reiterating its appreciation for the, the Office for the Moroccan Coordination calls on UNHCR to "strictly its carry out tasks particularly in Tindouf camps ( full briefing and selection of beneficiaries, support and monitoring of residence, etc ...), and in accordance with the provisions of the plan of action of the humanitarian program. "

Through this exchange, the total number of persons who benefited from family visits since 5 March 2004, amounted to 8360, including 4302 people from the Tindouf camps and 4058 people leaving in the southern provinces.
