The Internationale Démocratique du Centre (IDC) called, Tuesday, for the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) to endeavour towards enabling the Sahraoui population detained in the polisario camps against its will to return home.

Addressing the 11th session of the HRC, the representative of the IDC, Semlali Aabadila, called for the Council to address attempts to make any pernicious interpretation of the right to self-determination.

He also denounced the unspeakable atrocities and the lack of the right of expression and movement and the right to education, suffered by the Sharwai population in those camps since the 1970.

He underlined that only a negotiated solution to the Sahara issue would put an end to the sufferings and separation of the Sharawi population.

On the autonomy initiative proposed by Morocco, he said the efforts made by the kingdom, which have been described by the UN as "serious and credible" are bound to enable to establish a stable Arab Maghreb enjoying peace and human rights and put and end to the lingering ordeal of the Sahrawi population under the yoke of polisario.
