The Moroccan delegation in the Council of the Socialist International (IS), held Monday and Tuesday in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, called on this organization to "continue to support the dialog between the parties involved in the Sahara issue."

There should be a dialogue between the parties to the Sahara issue "in accordance with the will of the United Nations, on the basis of the Moroccan autonomy initiative" which was described by the UN as "serious and credible," the delegation underlined.

The President of the Moroccan delegation, Nouzha Chekrouni, said the Council renewed support for the Sahara resolution adopted by the Mediterranean committee during its meeting, held early October in Barcelona.

This resolution,  Chekrouni recalled, hailed “the efforts under the aegis of the Personal Envoy of the United  Nations, Christopher Ross, hoping that the dialogue engaged would lead to a  final solution to the Sahara conflict.
