There should be a dialogue between the parties to the Sahara issue "in accordance with the will of the United Nations, on the basis of the Moroccan autonomy initiative" which was described by the UN as "serious and credible," the delegation underlined.
The President of the Moroccan delegation, Nouzha Chekrouni, said the Council renewed support for the Sahara resolution adopted by the Mediterranean committee during its meeting, held early October in Barcelona.
This resolution, Chekrouni recalled, hailed “the efforts under the aegis of the Personal Envoy of the United Nations, Christopher Ross, hoping that the dialogue engaged would lead to a final solution to the Sahara conflict.
